Abstract

The motivations for walking the Camino have changed, but this element is not taken into account by public actors. Our research shows a gap between the expectations of the pilgrims and the public strategies. This gap is due to the fact that there is no formal tool to measure these expectations, which undermines the satisfaction of the experience and weakens the destination itself. To fill this gap, this article based on an empirical study (n= 399) proposes a five dimensional scale, validated in three languages. The implications of this work for public management are presented and discussed.
