Abstract

This communication takes into account the great moments in the history and contemporary reality of the city of Tokyo, including Tokyo Big Sight, the most important international exhibition center in Japan. When in 1867, the young prince Mutsuhito ascended the throne, he definitively defeated the supporters of the shogunate. This top-down reform was accompanied by the decision to transfer the capital to Edo, which was immediately renamed Tokyo, the capital of the East. The Meiji era begins, which sees Japan modernize in order to be able to deal as equals with foreign powers. Tokyo is quickly becoming a modern city that shines on an empire. This will be built on the model of Western empires, with the taking possession of Korea and part of China. Japan is also seeing the birth of new productions that now incorporate technologies inspired by the West. The technological revolutions and the transfiguration of the city of Tokyo in the aftermath of the 1923 earthquake, known as the Kanto earthquake (causing the death of nearly 400,000 people) make it possible to understand the relationship to geography - Bay of Tokyo and the spirit and sense of place of Tokyo's various fairs. The Japanese capital offers significant dynamism with occasional economic crises or recessions, but Tokyo offers a transfigured urban history and impresses with its dynamism. New means of expression are entering, which will remain unknown to the West until the 1980s. Manga – anime is the main manifestation and Shibuya, one of the 23 wards of Tokyo, is the famous district of the fashion and Tokyo youth par excellence. The place is world famous for its famous crossroads, one of the busiest in the world. Creating an attractive city through the renewal of its commerce is possible, with Tokyo Big Sight on the waterfront, with functional facilities and contributing to the revitalization of Tokyo Waterfront City (AXS Satow).
