Abstract

Ce chapitre analyse les raisons que des Sénégalais mettent en avant pour expliquer leur décision d'émigrer. Il est basé sur des recherches que je mène depuis 2003 sur des réseaux de migrants constitués à partir de ce que j'appelle le village multi-situé, une unité sociale qui prend en compte non seulement les habitants d'un site rural, mais aussi leurs familles déployées depuis longtemps sur plusieurs espaces nationaux et internationaux. Les motifs du départ sont mis en relation avec des éléments contextuels essentiellement d'ordre économique : la modernisation monétaire, le reflux agricole, le déclassement urbain et la mobilité pour études
