L'indifférence dans la société de consommation : vers une théorie du "balek"

Abstract

Si la consommation engagée, créative ou impliquée a reçu énormément d'attention dans la recherche en comportement du consommateur, son opposée, la consommation indifférente, est beaucoup moins théorisée. Pourtant, il est probable que ces actes représentent une part non-négligeable des actes de consommation ordinaire, tout en échappant aux théories basées sur des décisions explicites. Cet article vise à tenter de définir les contours de cette consommation indifférente, et de mettre en évidence les mécanismes psychologiques et sociologiques qui la sous-tendent. La conclusion ouvre des perspectives concernant la diffusion de cette façon de consommer dans des secteurs non-commerciaux, mais aussi la possibilité de théoriser une indifférence volontaire, ou une théorie du « balek ».
