Abstract

Les travaux de Charles E. Lindblom (1917-2018) ont éclairé l'évolution de l'administration publique aux États-Unis, au cours du XXe siècle et quasiment jusqu'à aujourd'hui. D'origines modestes, il est directement affecté par les conséquences de la Grande Dépression, au cours de laquelle [...] Nous abordons dans un premier temps la fabrique des politiques publiques qui conduisit Lindblom à observer la « débrouillardise » (muddling through) des acteurs. Ensuite, nous présentons les liens, parfois troubles, entre démocratie et marché. Enfin, nous revenons sur le plaidoyer de Lindblom en faveur de l'éducation des citoyens et des savoirs profanes et présentons quelques prolongements de ses travaux.
