Abstract

This article aims to study the process of co-conception of a sustainable logistics innovation intended for direct large-scale implementation: the conception of the ‘Smart Green Pallet' and the related innovative service. Using this case study, the article analyses the process of conception of a sustainable product+service innovation that combines material innovation (reused and recycled plastics), innovation in information system (IS) and information technology (IT) assembly, and service innovation using traceability information. The article discusses the case, synthesises the lessons learned from the case, and concludes by introducing the next stage of the innovation project.
