Abstract

The paper starts with a review of the developments that defined the notion of a sustainable and responsible supply chain, to then examine what competences are needed and expected in the recruitment of a supply chain manager in the context of responsible logistics. Does the triple challenge – environmental, social and economic – that supply chains need to face lead to expecting new skills from supply chain managers? In this exploratory study, we chose to carry out qualitative research based on data gathered from 50 job offers published in France. We concluded that few job offers (8%) request skills that have to do with environmental, social or societal issues. However, the results led us to believe that the study should be followed up with a longitudinal and comparative analysis.
