Abstract

The mainstream approach considers the enterprise as the symbol place of the market par excellence. The paper reverses this stereotype and, taking up the work of the French sociologist Norbert Alter (2009), identifies the gift as a basic process of the company policies. Based on empirical ethnographic research on two of the most relevant private health care companies in France, the paper aims to reassess the logic of gift in the work process, human resources management and organization government.
