Abstract

Notre article analyse l'impact de la nationalité des administrateurs (Anglos-Américains, Européens, Asiatiques et du Moyen-Orient) sur les pratiques de la responsabilité sociétale des entreprises (RSE), notamment sur la politique des droits humains des salariés. A partir d'un échantillon de 73 sociétés françaises cotées à l'indice SBF120 entre 2008 et 2018, nous montrons que la mise en place de cette dimension sociale varie selon la nationalité de l'administrateur. En effet, nos résultats montrent que la présence d'administrateurs Anglo-Américains ainsi que d'administrateurs provenant d'Asie favorise l'engagement social des entreprises. Tandis que les administrateurs Européens ont un impact négatif sur cette dimension. Pour les administrateurs provenant du Moyen-Orient, aucun lien n'a pu être observé. De plus, notre étude valide l'hypothèse selon laquelle la diversité en termes de nationalité des conseils est significativement positive à la RSE.
