Abstract

Questions relating to emergency numbers primarily concern our fellow citizens. They also relate to social issues through the sustainability imperative of the system as a whole. Often reduced to disagreements between emergency professionals, it appears necessary to review the findings made on national territory, with the aim to objectify the operational requirements needed to built a readable and efficient system. The peculiarity and complexity of urgent or unscheduled care requests require specific care. The establishment of a common health number, articulated and interoperated with the emergency and security services, responds to a target organizational model linked to the reality of the need in France, mainly consisting of health demand. Thus, the Service d'Accès aux Soins (SAS), now enshrined in law, is a central objective for improving the care of patients in emergency situations or requiring unscheduled medical care. It responds to the convergence of health professionals with the objective of improving efficiency by providing a health care response that is adapted to the patient's real needs. Accessing the SAS through the common health phone number contributes to the implementation of a relevant system.
