Abstract

L'hôpital public français connait des bouleversements dont les tenants et les aboutissants font davantage l'objet de controverses que d'analyses. C'est que la régulation actuelle prend les allures d'une rationalisation sans fin. Dès lors, les moyens de cette rationalisation sont souvent perçus comme des carcans ou, pire, comme des gadgets importés du monde marchand. Pourtant, l'ouvrage montre que, sous certaines conditions, des marges de manoeuvre existent qui éloigneraient le mirage de l'hôpital-entreprise tout en évitant les affres de la bureaucratie. Il en est ainsi de la contractualisation, de l expérimentation ou de l'évaluation. De leur appropriation et de leur adaptation par l'ensemble des acteurs du système de santé dépend l'avenir de l'hôpital.
