Abstract

Lors d'un entretien accordé au quotidien "Le Monde" en décembre 1999, Leonid Koutchma, fraîchement réélu à la présidence, affirmait que la stratégie de l'Ukraine était « celle de l'intégration dans l'Europe, dans l'Union européenne. Nous savons, ajoutait-il, que la route sera longue. Mais l'essentiel pour nous est d'avoir un signal, car frapper à une porte fermée ne donne pas beaucoup de perspectives. Ce qui est à l'ordre du jour maintenant en Ukraine, c'est l'accélération de la réforme économique, de façon radicale, afin de pouvoir mener des pourparlers plus consistants sur notre intégration ».
