Abstract

L'idée que les Juifs étaient fiers de participer de leurs biens au culte de Jérusalem, mais profondément hostiles au tribut étranger, est-elle historique ? En explorant des sources variées et en s'appuyant sur une méthodologie transdisciplinaire, cet ouvrage prétend replacer la fiscalité de la Judée antique dans l'histoire politique. Comme l'impôt est une manifestation de la souveraineté, certains groupes juifs se demandent s'il est permis de payer tribut à un maître étranger en plus de l'offrande obligatoire versée à Dieu. Cette question n'a rien à voir avec l'économie, elle est purement politique.
