Abstract

Les politiques de lutte contre les inégalités visent à prévenir ou corriger des différences de positions économiques et/ou sociales considérées comme injustes au regard des valeurs d'une société. Selon le type d'inégalité considéré et suivant le contexte social dans lequel elle se construit, plusieurs catégories d'actions peuvent être mises en œuvre par les pouvoirs publics. Hélène Périvier en dresse un panorama en s'appuyant sur des exemples précis. Si l'offre de services publics et les politiques de redistribution constituent les dispositifs de réduction des inégalités les plus classiques, elles se révèlent inefficaces lorsque les inégalités résultent de modèles culturels plus ou moins discriminatoires. Plus adaptées à ce cas, les politiques de discrimination positive ou d'affirmative action soulèvent néanmoins plusieurs interrogations.
