Abstract

Le nombre d'individus sur terre qui n'ont aucun accès à l'électricité est estimé à 1,3 milliard et à 2,5 milliards, ceux qui doivent se contenter de la biomasse traditionnelle pour le chauffage et la cuisson. Parmi eux, 600 millions d'Africains et 200 millions d'Indous n'ont pas accès à l'électricité. Ce manque d'accès touche principalement les pays en voie de développement au sein desquels les inégalités entre revenus sont croissantes, marginalisant toujours davantage les moins favorisés. Ces populations pauvres cumulent ainsi les inégalités. Non seulement elles n'ont pas accès au réseau ni au confort pour cause d'infrastructure inexistante ou déficiente, mais elles ont recours à des ressources alternatives polluantes qui menacent leur santé. Enfin, elles consomment un temps considérable à la corvée de bois, tâche dévolue aux plus démunis d'entre eux, les femmes et les enfants...
