Abstract

Le 2 août 2021 le Fonds Monétaire International (FMI) a approuvé une nouvelle allocation de droits de tirage spéciaux (433 milliards de DTS soit 650 milliards de dollars) afin de faire face aux besoins de réserves extérieures nés de la crise du COVID, avec prise d'effet le 23 août. Ce besoin est particulièrement aigu dans les pays en développement, comme l'a souligné la Directrice générale du FMI, le jour de l'allocation, alors même que la plus grande part de ces nouveaux DTS sont alloués aux pays industrialisés, proportionnellement aux quotas dont la majeure partie est détenue par ceux-ci.
