Abstract

L'histoire montre que le progrès des cultures et des arts est le fruit d'une dialectique où la transgression s'institutionnalise progressivement, une offre innovante devenant peu à peu une nouvelle tradition. Fondamentalement méfiante quant à la capacité du seul marché à garantir les conditions de la vitalité culturelle, la tradition centralisatrice et étatiste française consiste en un pilotage autoritaire de l'offre. Nous défendons néanmoins l'idée que les conditions profondément nouvelles de la création et de la diffusion permises par les outils numériques redonnent une certaine efficacité à la « main invisible » du marché en matière culturelle.
