Abstract

Cet article questionne l'identité et la reconnaissance au travail dans un métier méconnu, celui de trieur industriel de déchets. S'appuyant sur des entretiens menés auprès du personnel d'un centre de tri girondin, il met en évidence une identification aux finalités environnementales de l'activité en dépit des paradoxes de l'économie circulaire. Il s'en dégage un discours de légitimité porteur de sens, ainsi qu'une culture professionnelle spécifique. Dans ce contexte, le collectif apparaît comme un support identitaire, palliant la pénibilité du travail.
