Abstract

L'objectif de ce chapitre est double : lister un certain nombre d'explications à l'écart entre prédictions et réalisations pour la Coupe du Monde de la FIFA 2014 ; observer si elles offrent des pistes pour une aide à la prise de décision pour les paris futurs. Nous proposons d'abord une revue de la littérature sur la mesure et les déterminants socioéconomiques et sportifs de la performance des équipes nationales masculines de football. Nous explicitons ensuite notre modèle et les variables retenues, avant de présenter les données utilisées. Les résultats obtenus sont alors exposés, permettant la comparaison entre prédictions et réalisations. Des explications aux différences constatées sont suggérées puis les implications pour la prise de décision pour les paris futurs sont envisagées. La conclusion synthétise les principaux éléments développés.
