Abstract

Le criminologue revient sur les statistiques de la violence et attire l'attention sur la montée de l'"homicidité", qui atteint en 2020 son niveau le plus élevé depuis 1972. En 2003, il a fondé l'Observatoire de la délinquance et de la réponse pénale, la bible statistique des experts de la sécurité, consacré puis fermé dans l'indifférence générale le 31 décembre dernier, avant de renaître de ses cendres il y a quelques jours. Il a aussi conseillé la police de New York, a donné des cours en Chine, en Israël, dans les écoles de police. Entre autres. Alain Bauer, professeur de criminologie au Conservatoire national des arts et métiers (Cnam), semble avoir déjà eu mille vies. Pour L'Express, il revient sur les débats enflammés autour de l'insécurité et esquisse ce que pourrait être, à ses yeux, une politique publique efficace en la matière.
