Abstract

Après le succès des Guetteurs, le premier ouvrage sur l'histoire du renseignement par ses chefs, voici Les Protecteurs, une histoire intérieure et intime de la gendarmerie nationale. Pour la première fois, une véritable histoire fouillée des origines de la connétablie, sénéchaussée, maréchaussée, gendarmerie, qui retrace la genèse et l'évolution de la plus ancienne force nationale de sécurité. Une plongée en profondeur dans la gendarmerie des temps modernes, sortant de l'aimable maréchal des logis-chef Cruchot pour entrer dans le millénaire, le numérique, le 3.0. Nouveaux dispositifs, nouvelles méthodes, nouveaux moyens, nouvelle organisation : une gendarmerie qui change, qui évolue, qui se transforme. Une gendarmerie modernisée qui fête ses dix ans d'intégration au ministère de l'Intérieur sous les auspices de son nouveau héros, le colonel Beltrame. Mais aussi une gendarmerie des héros du quotidien, présente sur tout le territoire, défendant les valeurs et les institutions de la République.
