Abstract

The economic crisis being experienced for the last four years mainly in Europe, and in the rest of the world too, is supposing a transformation, and what is more important, a questioning of the own model of the Welfare State. A situation that is leading to an increase in unemployment and inequality, and therefore, is opening a new social breach, and meanwhile, states respond to a reduction in social protection spending, and tax increases as responses to try to reduce the deficit. It is precisely in the fact of reduced spending on social protection, in which this paper is based, with the sole aim of being able to identify and analyze the changes that have taken place in the social policies and social rights in Spain, and as these are affecting their citizens
