Abstract

Nous analysons la relation entre, d'une part, un large éventail d'arrangements institutionnels (sur les marchés des produits, du travail, monétaires et financiers) et, d'autre part, les performances du marché du travail mesurées par les taux de chômage, d'inactivité et de non-emploi. Cela nous permet de considérer les possibles effets de substitution entre les différents statuts de non-emploi, et d'évaluer la sensibilité relative de l'inactivité et du chômage aux caractéristiques institutionnelles en vigueur sur les différents marchés. Nous montrons notamment que la protection du travail affecte positivement les performances d'emploi et que les régulations sur les marchés des produits et du travail sont substituables.
