Abstract

For thirty years the distribution and automotive repair sector has experienced many economic and technological changes. While "small garages" seemed doomed to disappear, production methods of maintenance and repair services mobilized by these craftsmen and their ability to "reclassify" the process allowed them to structure a model against the original their sustainability. In this article, we examine this counter-model in which knowledge plays an important role. On the technical side, we show that the craftsmen are able to access technical knowledge despite their attempt to confiscation by the dominant players. On the trade plan, we analyze how the preservation of these actors of the repair also bases itself on the contesting of the dominant knowledge as for the needs for the customers.
