Abstract

For more than 20 years the health sector in France has been undergoing major changes. The evolution of public values, the dissemination of new managerial principles and the mobility that characterises lifestyles and professional activities are not without consequences for the staff of health care institutions and in particular for their organizational commitment. In this context, the aim of this paper is precisely to examine the effects of attachment to organizational values and living place attachment on the organizational commitment of health institutions personnel. To this end, a structural equation model estimated according to the PLS approach is tested based on data collected from 142 people working in two French health establishments. The results show that organizational values attachment and living place attachment have a positive influence on the three dimensions of organizational commitment (affective, continuance and normative) of health institutions personnel. They also highlight the differentiated impact and contribution of these two types of attachment on each dimension of organizational commitment. Key words: organizational values; living place attachment; organizational commitment; area; health
