Abstract

Desde los trabajos de Mark Granovetter (1973, 1985) sobre el mercado de trabajo, el papel de las redes y del capital social ha sido recalcado en varias ocasiones, sobre todo en el ámbito cultural. Según Blaug (1985), las tres S, es decir "skilling, screening y socialisation" son tan importantes para las artes como las tres Rs para los sectores tradicionales. Adquirir las competencias necesarias, evaluar sus capacidades, conseguir recomendaciones de profesionales reconocidos e insertarse en las redes, son elementos que contribuyen a favorecer la carrera de los artistas. Apoyándonos en un trabajo de encuestas elaborado en la región Languedoc-Roussillon (Francia) en un curso realizado por una veintena de artistas visuales, analizamos cómo el capital social interviene en las diferentes etapas de la carrera: primero al inicio de la carrera (las diferencias en las dotaciones iniciales individuales) y más ampliamente a lo largo la carrera.
