Abstract

Les méthodes d'évaluation économique se sont beaucoup démocratisées, preuve qu'elles sont devenues un enjeu social important. Cependant, il est indispensable que les techniques mobilisées le soient en conformité avec les principes de la théorie économique. Des confusions existent qui tiennent à l'emploi parfois abusif du terme lui-même. Évaluer c'est comparer ; ce n'est pas simplement donner une valeur. La question de la validité des protocoles d'autoévaluation est de fait posée. Celle du principe de l'évaluation des effets d'activité également. De plus, il convient de s'interroger sur la nature et le contenu des indicateurs utilisés. Dans le domaine de la lutte contre la désertification, les évaluations économiques sont rares et l'indisponibilité des données est souvent mise en cause. Pourtant, les caractéristiques et contextes des régions affectées pourraient en retour nourrir la réflexion méthodologique sur l'évaluation économique.
