Abstract

Colonne vertébrale de l'institution militaire, le commandement, dont nous tenterons de livrer une définition, connaît actuellement nombre de bouleversements, imputables tant aux évolutions culturelles de la société civile qu'aux récentes restructurations des armées. Si les objectifs et les fonctions de cet art demeurent identiques, en revanche les principes d'autorité, de légitimité et de persuasion sur lesquels il repose s'articulent désormais dans des proportions différentes. La communication interne y occupe une place grandissante, ce qui rapproche progressivement le commandement militaire de son frère jumeau, le management civil. Il convient cependant de s'interroger sur les modalités, mais aussi les limites, d'un tel rapprochement, eu égard à la spécificité des missions de défense.
