Abstract

The conception of human needs is subject to different analyses and assessments according to economic theories. The dominant classical and neo-classical theory considers that needs are directly satisfied by markets. Needs are universal and individual, basically immutable, even if their realisation is constantly changing in relation to the evolution of supply. It is on this point that divergences arise, without the relationship between production and consumption, the former influencing the latter, leading to forms of domination, classes, behaviour, economic system. Several theories address these questions, such as the reversal of the chain, discretionary income, the social dynamics of need, "social capillarity" or the consumption of signs. A new thought and analysis must be undertaken to understand the logic of economic systems.
