Abstract

Sport is a reflection of our times. Sport is undeniably an economic activity with increasing added value, producing jobs, research and sophisticated technological applications, but at the same time it carries contrasting images that make it a singular economic activity, with objectives that are both contradictory (between the notion of public and private good) and misguided (between its assumed representations and its sometimes unconscious influences). It plays an important political role in the labour market (Bosman ruling), in the collective image of unequal pay and in the implementation of the opium of the people.
