Abstract

he gender gap differential. A comparison between the social and solidarity-based economy and the for-profit sector. Abstract: This article analyzes the gender gap differential in the social and solidarity-based economy. It compares this differential with the one which is observed in the for-profit sector. Our investigation is conducted at an aggregated level but also in several industries from the exploitation of Annual Declarations of Social Data (DADS-2010). The results show that the assumption that non-profit employers are, in terms of wage payment, fairer than the for-profit ones must be relativized. Yet these results also emphasize the influence of industry, beyond the employ-er's legal status. Finally, they indicate that the gender pay gap is mainly due to the characteristics of employees and positions they hold in particular by their profession.
