Abstract

This chapter is part of an edited volume on the prospective of urban issues that aims to shed light on the future directions of French research : what could, or should, be the priority areas for the production of knowledge on the urban environment in the next decade? In this chapter, we examine the "urban land issue" in relation to the transformations of the macroeconomic and institutional frameworks of contemporary capitalism. Starting from a panorama encompassing the urban contexts of the North and South, we attempt to identify prospective avenues for renewing research agendas on land and property issues.
