Abstract

La citoyenneté renvoie à la question de la convergence des intérêts individuels et de l'intérêt général ; question qu'on ne peut traiter sans débat sur les "valeurs" ; question qui était au coeur de la problématique des pères fondateurs de la science économique, mais que l'économie moderne, pour accéder au rang de science objective, ignore largement. Cette ignorance, justifiée tant que les "vices privés faisaient les bénéfices publics", n'est plus légitime quand "l'économique" justifie un processus qui contredit les valeurs communément partagées. Promouvoir la coopération citoyenne suppose de sortir du fameux "dilemme du prisonnier". Le développement de l'économie locale, la mise en oeuvre du principe de "subsidiarité" semblent des directions favorables que le milieu rural est bien placé pour explorer.
