Abstract

Les approches théoriques par les instruments connaissent un renouveau dans les sciences sociales. Ces approches ont en commun de considérer les instruments de gestion ou d'action publique comme point d'entrée pour étudier l'action organisée. Partant d'une clarification terminologique, ce chapitre propose une généalogie des travaux sur les instruments, afin de resituer chacun des développements théoriques successifs dans son contexte historique et intellectuel.Il se conclut sur un plaidoyer pour élargir l'agenda de recherche à l'étude des dispositifs de gestion.
