Agricultural use of sewage sludge and municipal waste and the environment

Abstract

L'utilisation des terres agricoles en vue de recycler les boues de station d'épuration et les déchets urbains permet une valorisation de ces produits à un coût relativement limité pour les gestionnaires de l'assainissement. Mais la présence d'éléments-trace et de métaux lourds comme le cadmium, peut être lourde de conséquences pour l'environnement, la santé humaine et l'agriculture elle-même. L'intérêt de l'épandage est analysé en termes privés (du point de vue du gestionnaire puis de l'agriculteur, sous l'angle de la substitution d'engrais minéraux par des nutriments contenus dans ces déchets) puis en terme d'économie publique.
