Abstract

Les productions avicoles ont connu un developpement rapide en Europe pendant les trente annees ecoulees. L'ensemble economique de la CEE a Douze a produit, en 1987, plus de 80 milliards d'oeufs et 5,8 millions de tonnes de viande de volailles. En raison de possibilites d'exportations en diminution sur le marche international, la progression des quantites produites n'a pu qu'etre absorbee au plan communautaire : augmentation de la consommation (surtout, pour la viande de volaille), developpement des echanges entre pays membres. Une des principales consequences de cette evolution a ete la forte concentration des productions. Celles-ci sont, desormais, assurees par un petit nombre de regions qui ont su, grace au dynamisme des hommes et de quelques entreprises, profiter au mieux de leur situation geographique par rapport, soit au marche des produits finis, soit aux sources d'approvisionnement en matieres premieres. Bien entendu, c'est dans ces regions que les couts de production sont les plus bas, mais la mesure des differences entre les pays ou les grandes regions productrices est difficile a faire a partir de donnees trop peu nombreuses ou d'evaluations etablies sur des bases variables.
