Abstract

Cet article présente les contributions du numéro spécial de la revue sur les espaces ruraux et précise pourquoi l'analyse des espaces ruraux qui ressort de ces contributions ne fait guère référence à l'agriculture. Les dynamiques économiques du rural sont aujourd'hui marquées par les fonctions résidentielles et récréatives. Celles-ci expliquent le renversement des flux migratoires entre espaces urbains et ruraux et contribuent fortement à l'évolution des activités productives rurales, qui découle pour partie des emplois induits par ces flux migratoires. Plusieurs articles reviennent par la suite sur ces questions. Sur ces bases, l'article propose une typologie économique des espaces ruraux. Les politiques agricoles et rurales apparaissent quelque peu en porte à faux par rapport à ces dynamiques nouvelles.
