Abstract

Les territoires ruraux méditerranéens se redessinent sous le double effet de la globalisation et du développement local. Dans l'agriculture, l'intégration des marchés a pour conséquence la concentration des productions sur une partie très restreinte de la superficie, notamment irriguée. Ce phénomène contribue à modifier l'occupation humaine, les zones qui se dépeuplent gagnant en extension tandis que la "rurbanisation" s'installe autour des cités. Le tourisme affirme sa présence dans le développement local dont les mécanismes se sont peu prêtés, jusqu'à présent, aux actions des agriculteurs. La nouvelle économie rurale qui résulte de cette recomposition s'accompagne de la différenciation et de la spécialisation territoriale.
