Abstract

Ce travail s'intéresse à la contradiction supposée entre viabilité économique et gestion écologique des ressources naturelles dans le cas d'une région méditerranéenne du sud de l'Espagne, caractérisée par un système agraire à forte valeur environnementale : la "dehesa". Cette contradiction aurait été à l'origine, depuis les années 70, d'une dégradation importante des arbres, ressource naturelle clé dans le fonctionnement écologique et économique de ce système agro-sylvo-pastoral. L'analyse s'attache à montrer que cette contradiction ne présente pas la même envergure dans toutes les exploitations, et qu'un compromis est possible entre des objectifs économiques et environnementaux. Ces résultats pourraient apporter des enseignements pour la définition de politiques publiques visant à mettre en place une agriculture plus respectueuse de l'environnement.
