Abstract

Il s'agit d'étudier, dans cette présentation, comment, à l'aide de son étymologie et de sa terminologie, le terme « gamme » comprend à la fois des caractères structurels (comment construire), culturels (comment identifier une pensée) et rhétoriques (comment donner de l'intention). La gamme (plus particulièrement une gamme de couleurs) est pensée ici comme un modèle qui permet d'aller au-delà de… l'objet, de la publicité ou du tableau. Mais l'enjeu est surtout de relever les méthodologies de sa conception, les savoirs et savoir-faire qui construisent la gamme ainsi que la sensibilité portée par le matériau et son aspect chromatique. Finalement, il s'agit moins de comprendre l'usage ou la finalité que de comprendre comment, aujourd'hui, nous sommes arrivés à un monde chromatique des images.
