Quelques aspects inexplorés de l’histoire managériale des chemins de fer en France : les méthodes de calcul du prix de revient (1842-1883)

Abstract

Cette étude porte sur les pratiques managériales des compagnies ferroviaires en matière de calcul de coûts. L'analyse de la littérature comptable d'une part et des comptabilités réelles des compagnies d'autre part fait ressortir un certain décalage entre deux types de savoirs : des savoirs théoriques très avancés développés dans les écrits des ingénieurs et des savoirs pratiques qui sont loin de refléter cette richesse théorique. Cet écart entre théories et pratiques s'explique par les spécificités des compagnies ferroviaires comme grandes entreprises de réseau chargées d'un service public mais également par des conflits entre différentes parties prenantes qui cherchent à s'approprier l'information comptable et à légitimer leur pouvoir en matière de gestion ferroviaire.
