Abstract

La ville intelligente, traduction française de « smart city », est un concept apparu il y a une dizaine d'années, qui s'inscrit dans le prolongement de celui de la ville durable. Il apporte à cette dernière une nouvelle dimension en intégrant l'impact de la transition numérique sur la fabrique de la ville et des territoires. Ville intelligente et ville durable restent néanmoins étroitement liées du fait que le numérique ne porte pas de finalité en soi et qu'il ne constitue qu'une nouvelle opportunité technique au service de la ville durable. Pour autant, la transition numérique génère un tel impact technologique, organisationnel et culturel sur la société, qu'elle soulève aussi en propre de nouveaux enjeux politiques.
