Fin du franc CFA en Afrique de l’Ouest, quel avenir pour l’éco ?

Abstract

Le samedi 21 décembre 2019, le Président de la République française et le Président de la Côte d'Ivoire réunis à Abidjan à l'occasion de la visite du premier, ont ensemble annoncé la fin du franc CFA et son remplacement par l'éco. Ce changement présenté comme historique par les deux présidents, mais cosmétique par certains de leurs opposants, était attendu depuis quelques semaines, ou quelques mois peut-on dire, puisque les responsables ivoiriens avaient pris au début de l'année l'initiative en toute discrétion de demander la réforme qui vient de prendre corps. Cette réforme a été annoncée comme la « mort du CFA » et comme le dernier acte de la déconnexion des structures monétaires de l'UEMOA d'avec la France.
