Abstract

La persistance des difficultés que l'on rencontre dans le développement d'un système d'information conduit à s'interroger sur la pertinence d'une approche unique de développement, ainsi que sur un modèle de mise en pratique d'une méthode qui soit indépendant de ses conditions d'application, et à se tourner vers des approches contingentes, adaptées aux multiples contextes de conduite des projets. L'objet de cet article est de présenter les recherches publiées dans la littérature américaine sur les facteurs de contingence qui peuvent guider le choix d'une approche. Ces recherches sont peu nombreuses, mais marquent une tendance à appréhender l'activité de développement non comme un cas particulier de résolution de problème (problem-solving), mais comme un problème de pilotage de projet.
