Abstract

Dans cette contribution, nous proposons d'expliquer les choix des entreprises en matière de stratégie financière et de structuration du pool bancaire. Nous prêtons une attention particulière aux liens entre la qualité de signature des emprunteurs et l'organisation du pool des prêteurs. Dans un cadre d'analyse marqué par l'asymétrie d'information et l'opportunisme des agents, nous supposons que le degré de concentration de la dette bancaire constitue un signal crédible du niveau de risque de la firme. A l'aide de tests réalisés sur un échantillon européen de 3 000 prêts, nous confirmons les hypothèses proposées. Les meilleures entreprises se caractérisent par une concentration plus forte de leurs prêts.
