L'| éthique managériale peut-elle n'être qu'un facteur stratégique ?

Abstract

L'éthique des entreprises n'est pas seulement un répertoire d'idéaux valorisables par la communication. C'est aussi un guide des comportements réels, appuyé sur des valeurs morales individuelles et collectives, propres à inspirer la confiance des interlocuteurs dans leur coopération au quotidien. Mais une éthique purement instrumentalisée peut- elle refléter le fond moral du comportement des entreprises, et des positions de leurs parties prenantes ? L'analyse critique de la « gestion de l'éthique » des firmes, qui constitue le corps de l'article, tend à montrer que leur attitude généralement défensive ne fait qu'accroître les difficultés, alors qu'il faudrait puiser dans le capital moral de leurs acteurs pour adopter une attitude volontariste, et restaurer ainsi leur légitimité citoyenne aujourd'hui très érodée.
