Abstract

La capacité des élites – qu'elles soient organisationnelles ou politiques – à incarner à travers leurs comportements les exigences qu'elles ont vis-à-vis du reste du corps social, est fondamentale. Condition essentielle mais exigeante, cette exemplarité implique que le leader est exposé au regard permanent de ses collaborateurs ou citoyens dans une relation directe et transparente. Elle s'exprime autour de choses simples mais ses effets sont multiples, notamment sur l'engagement, la satisfaction et la volonté de coopérer des collaborateurs, équipes ou citoyens. Difficile à maintenir dans le temps, l'exemplarité peut faire défaut aux leaders à des moments-clé de l'exercice de leur fonction et compromettre leurs projets pour leur organisation ou leur institution. Ce livre passe en revue ce que recouvre cette notion d'exemplarité et explique pourquoi il est difficile d'être perçu comme exemplaire aujourd'hui.
