Abstract

François Scheid étudie dans cet ouvrage le rôle des premiers clients dans la conception d'innovation logicielle. L'auteur a étudié sur plusieurs années, un processus qui a abouti à la conception d'une plate-forme de création automatisée de base de connaissance. Cette plate-forme résulte du couplage de deux logiciels conçus par deux start-up, Temis et Mondeca. Elle a émergé au travers de deux projets développés par ces deux sociétés dans le secteur de la presse et de l'édition. L'auteur analyse un processus d'innovation original mais emblèmatique d'un domaine où l'innovation radicale est portée par des petites structures hyper-spécialisées. Les deux premiers clients jouent le rôle de lead users, tels que défini par Eric von Hippel, mais ne peuvent cepandant pas se passer de la contribution des éditeurs de logiciel. L'auteur éclaire ainsi la notion de lead user d'un jour nouveau, tout en en soulignant la validité. Enfin, François Scheid décrit une participation des utilisateurs au processus d'innovation dans le domaine des logiciels propriétaires, qui diffère de celle proposée par les spécialistes des logiciels open source.
