Abstract

This paper aims to provide an inter-organizational approach of dynamic capabilities (DC) developed in a supply chain context. The dynamic capabilities literature, far from being nascent, provides a robust theoretical framework for understanding how resources and capabilities are articulated to achieve and maintain a sustainable competitive advantage. Building on literature relating to networks, more precisely on the polymorphic nature and forms of networks, it is possible to affirm that supply chains are inter-organizational networks. For these reasons, the literature on dynamic capabilities seems relevant to understand how they develop specifically in a network context. The paper suggests specifically an original frame-work of dynamic capabilities that firms should develop in order to enhance network performance.
