Abstract

A partir de l'ethnographie de la migration traditionnelle des Soninkés et de récits biographiques de migrants sénégalais récents en France, l'objectif de l'article est de comprendre ce qui se joue en matière d'ethnicité lors de leurs retours au pays d'origine. Au-delà de l'idéal typique de la migration historique soninké, nous montrons l'existence d'une pluralité de processus identitaires en référence à des parcours récents. L'analyse de ces retours temporaires montre qu'il s'agit de moments forts durant lesquels les ethnicités sont en mouvement en lien notamment avec les redéfinitions du chez soi. Nous proposons trois éléments de discussion : le rôle de la figure du migrant dans son pays d'origine (ici appelé Venant) sur le processus de construction identitaire ; l'importance de ces retours dans l'acculturation du pays d'origine en matière de cultures et pratiques de consommation; l'organisation de la dynamique migratoire en reliant l'ethnicité et le chez soi.
